He Shou Wu
He Shou Wu is derived from the roots of the Polygonum multiflorum, an intertwining vine that grows in the mountains of central and southern China.
He Shou Wu is used extensively in Asian herbalism and has a deep-seated history among Taoist longevity masters who were said to have lived healthy, youthful lives well over the age of 100.
It is known to be a highly effective tonic in promoting healthy aging by tonifying the liver and kidneys, nourishing the blood and invigorating the muscles, tendons and bones - and most famously according to legend it can reverse greying hair and promote hair growth (he shou wu loosely translates to “Mr. He’s hair is black”).
This may be attributed to the fact that He Shou Wu has been found to substantially increase the amount of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the body, which is a powerful natural antioxidant and free radical scavenger that has been shown to have potent anti-aging benefits.
